The Feld Rosenbaum Religious School

The Feld Rosenbaum Religious School is dedicated to the task of preparing  your children to participate happily, intelligently, and creatively as Jews in modern American life.  We aim to help you child...

    1) become familiar with and be proud of his/her Jewish heritage.
    2) Develop a religious and ethical approach to life.
    3) Implant a love of Torah and the desire for continued intellectual growth through Jewish learning.
    4) Integrate Judaism with American life.
    5) Participate joyfully and intelligently with fellow Jews in an enriching religious social and      educational program.

Our curriculum consists of a five year course of study, leading to graduation and a
Hebrew High School program.  Special emphasis is given to the study of Hebrew language, the Bible, the Prayer Book, Jewish History and Jewish Customs and Ceremonies.  We also teach current events, Jewish values and ethical concepts as they relate to contemporary life.

The school curriculum is also "religion" oriented.  We place a maximum effort upon orienting the student within the allotted time towards Judaism, increasing religious awareness, inspiring a perspective on Jewish thought, Jewish feelings and Jewish action patterns.  Hebrew as a language is also emphasized since it is helpful in producing a graduate who will identify with the Sate of Israel and will feel spiritually at home in the synagogue and the Jewish community.  All Bar/Bar Mitzvah candidates must be enrolled in the elementary or high school division at the time of their Bar/Bar Mitzvah.

The
Feld Rosenbaum Religious School is affiliated with the Metropolitan Council of the United Synagogue and the Board of Jewish Education, which evaluate and guide our school.
Our faculty is made up of qualified, dedicated and seasoned professionals who have many years of experience in Jewish education.
We sincerely hope that in a partnership between school and home, we will be enabled to inculcate your children with a love of our heritage, combined with comprehension and commitment to Judaism.  In this partnership, we will have fulfilled our responsibility of serving as a link in the age-old chain of Jewish tradition.

Article for May 2008 Newsletter

May promises to be a very busy and exciting month at the Feld Rosenbaum Religious School.  Our students and their families will experience Yom Hazikaron (Observance of Israel’s Fallen Soldiers), Israel Independence Day, a Siddur Presentation and Program from the Aleph class, and Daled students will face-off in a Hidon HaTorah (Bible contest).

Beginning our activities on May 4th, selected students from our Daled class will represent Feld Rosenbaum in the annual Hidon HaTorah sponsored by the New York Metropolitan Region of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.  These six students have studied for several months with Rabbi Alan Lavin and Mrs. Ruth Deane, and have become experts on the Biblical book of Exodus.  We are extremely proud of their accomplishments!

On May 7th, the entire school will commemorate Yom Hazikaron.  We will ring the bell and everyone will stand silently for a full minute while remembering Israel’s fallen soldiers.  Each class will write a letter to a soldier currently in active combat and it will be sent along with a care package tailored to the soldier’s needs.

Next we will celebrate Israel Independence Day on May 12, 14 and 18. The Parents Association will give out blue and white cookies, and the school will give each student a blue and white pen with “Israel @ 60” written on it.  On the 14th, we will have a visit from an Israel Defense Forces soldier in active duty.  This will take place at the Farmingdale Wantagh Jewish Center from 5:00-6:00pm, and all parents are welcome.  On the 18th, Bet through Hey classes will experience a Gadna program, which will be a simulation of an Israeli army basic training program.  This is a mandatory Sunday religious school program and will be held at Temple Beth El, from 10:00am-Noon.

And finally, the Aleph class will receive their siddurim and regale their families with songs they have prepared.  Mrs. Zahava Glambosky, our stellar Aleph teacher will lead the students.  The program will be held at Temple Beth El, from 10:00am-Noon.  All family members are welcome.  A light collation will follow.

We hope to see you there…
